Join a peace contingent in a 4th of July parade

Highland Park
We in Highland Park are marching in our local parade -- kick-off at 9:45 A.M. Our message will be "HAD ENOUGH? Enough WAR! Enough DESTRUCTION! Bring Our Troops Home NOW!
Anyone in the vicinity can join us -- we have signs enough for all. Our parade is usually over before noon. Meet at the parking lot of the Highland Park train station, east side, St Johns and Hazel Street -- adjacent to City Hall, 9:30 A.M.

Evanston
Join the Peace Contingent in the Evanston 4th of July Parade
Bring your signs, banners, puppets and noise makers and walk for Peace and an end to the War in Iraq. The North Shore Coalition for Peace and Justice has reserved a spot in the parade where we can all meet and walk together in a collective call for Peace. The meeting area is on the north side of Central Street, between Highland and Prospect.
See you all on the 4th! Just Look for the Peace Signs
We'll be hosting a potluck BBQ after the parade (probably around 4:30 or 5:00 pm) and before the fireworks for those who want to get together. Please let me know if you think you'll be coming so we have enough supplies.
Thanks,
Marcia

Directions courtesy of Margaret Nelson:
Central and Highland is twelve irregular blocks west of the Green Bay Road/Central Street intersection. This is also the location of the Central Street station on the Metra North Line--one way to get to the parade if you're coming up from the Chicago Loop is to take the Metra from Ogilvie Center.
You can also take the CTA Red Line to Howard, and the Purple Line to Central Street near Ridge Avenue. Walk five blocks or so west to Green Bay, then twelve blocks further west to Highland.
If you are driving to the gathering area, remember that Central Street will be closed off for the parade from Central Park to Ryan Field. Getting west to Prospect from Green Bay involves some wiggling around, viz. Green Bay to Lincoln, Lincoln west to any convenient cross street, turn right (north) to Harrison, left (west) on Harrison to Prospect, right on Prospect to cross Central.

Hyde Park (Chicago)
Join our community for the annual 4th of July march
Hyde Parkers for Peace and Justice will have a contingent. The march kicks off with an assembly at 10:30 AM at 54th and Lake Park (HP Bank lot) and begins at 11:00 AM with a walk to Nichols Park at 53rd St and Kenwood. Look for the Hyde Parkers for Peace and Justice banner, bring your own posters with your own anti-war slogans, noisemakers, and help pass out flyers demanding an end to the War in Iraq. Those who don't wish to march can go directly to Nichols Park.

Riverside
All out for peace on the 4th of July in Riverside
Near West Citizens for Peace and Justice will march for peace in the Riverside 4th of July parade. Please join us!
Details:
We have been assigned parade slot #41 and should line up at 8:30 in preparation for the parade kick off at 9:00 am. Code PINK will join us, so dress in your best summertime attire, wear pink for peace or blue for NWCPJ and carry your banners and peace signs (to move the conservative though good hearted folks of Riverside). We hope to welcome some vets for peace and a riding sound system as well.
Parade assembly for #41 is on N. Delaplaine Road just west of its intersection with Nuttall Road at the NW corner of Big Ball Park in Riverside. A good approach is to access the assembly area from Des Plaines Avenue turning east on Delaplaine just south of the intersection with 31st St.
Booth right after at Fest in Guthrie Park: NWCPJ has been assigned booth space #21. We have a table plus pretzels to sell,
We'll be getting handouts buttons, stickers and peace crane making materials.
We need volunteers for set up at 8:30, for staffing from 9:00 to 1:00 and take down at 1:00 pm.
See you then.
Cheers, peace,
Laurel
