Kalbfleisch Reaction to Seals Interview

These sentiments are the reaction of David Kalbfleisch, Green Party candidate for U.S. House, IL-10, to the June 24th interview of Democratic challenger Dan Seals on Fox 32. Seals, the 2006 Democratic nominee, was on to announce formally that he will seek the 2008 nomination to challenge Rep. Mark Kirk (R). Democrat Jay Footlik has also announced his bid for the seat.
POINT: Seals won’t vote against funding the Iraq occupation because he “would never do that to the troops.”

COUNTER-POINT: Kalbfleisch, a veteran Navy submarine office and the only candidate in Illinois’ 2008 10th district race who actually served in the Iraq conflict, says “bring the troops home now.” The war is based on lies and should be ended immediately. It is a moral and ethical, not strategic, decision that has nothing to do with those fighting in the conflict.

“ ‘Not supporting the troops’ is sending us to die under false pretenses and then being too much of a coward to bring us home immediately over the objections and propaganda of the White House.”

POINT: Seals is “completely devoted to the security of Israel, full stop.”

COUNTER-POINT: Kalbfleisch is completely devoted to the security of the United States, and that means not supporting the U.S. getting involved in other people’s conflicts. Kalbfleisch maintains that we should not give weapons to any nation, and we should give money only for immediate efforts to combat a humanitarian crisis brought on by natural disasters. He supports the right of all people to self-determination free from foreign influences.

POINT: Seals expects millions of out-of-state dollars in campaign contributions.

COUNTER-POINT: Seals sure will owe favors to many wealthy people and corporations if he gets elected. Kalbfleisch is not accepting any money from corporate PACs, and he is running an all-volunteer campaign.
