An Evening of Solidarity: International Voices for Peace and Justice

Join United for Peace and Justice during our National Assembly as we welcome international guests and hear their presentations on the realities of U.S. foreign policy. Saturday, June 23 at 8 pm Wyndham O’Hare Hotel 6810 N. Mannheim Rd. Rosemont, Illinois Come hear the voices from the front lines: * Hashmeya Muhsin Hussein, President, Iraqi Electrical Utility Workers Union. She is the first woman to lead a national union in Iraq. * Faleh Abood Umara, General Secretary, Iraqi Federation of Oil Unions His union has been leading the struggle to prevent the take over of Iraq’s oil by multinational corporations. * Dr. Mona El-Farra, Vice President Gaza Red Crescent & Director of Gaza Projects, Middle East Children's Alliance * Jeremy Corbyn, Member of UK Parliament since 1983 and an officer of the Stop the War Coalition, UFPJ’s sister coalition, in the UK. * Tran Xuan Thu, Vice, president of Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin. He is the chief plaintiff in a lawsuit against Dow, Monsanto and 35 other corporations on behalf of millions of Vietnamese who continue to suffer the effects of chemical defoliants used by the United States during the Vietnam War. * Gihad Ali, poet * A "representative" of the CIA * Moderated by Phyllis Bennis, fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies, author/speaker on the Middle East, the UN and other foreign policy issues.
