The Haymarket Books progressive book fair is an unrivaled assemblage of radical and progressive books. The book fair is part of the Socialism 2007 conference, which will bring together over 1500 activists from around the United States and the world with progressive publishers and authors.

As local bookshops and independent presses are replaced by chain bookstores and online megastores, our access to ideas that challenge the conventional wisdom of right-wing politicians and pundits diminishes. Yet today more than ever, we need ideas that offer an alternative vision -- against war and racism, highlighting the stories of struggles around the world. Haymarket Books believes that ideas are weapons for changing the world. The Haymarket Books progressive book fair exists to arm a new generation of activists with the ideas needed to struggle and win.

TITLES PREMIERING
Six important new books will make their premiere at the Haymarket fair.

Welcome to the Terrordome: The Pain, Politics, and Promise of Sports
By Dave Zirin, with a foreword by Chuck D
"Welcome to the Terrordome." Public Enemy's 1990 hip-hop anthem was a call to arms against a world—and a popular culture—gone mad. Today the "Terrordome" is a twenty-first century sports world that is frightening, ridiculous, horrifying, and inspiring…all before the next commercial break. From Don Imus' racist comments to the inspiring, yet mixed, legacy of Muhammad Ali; from the stormy marriage between hip-hop and the NBA to Zinedine Zidane's head butt— "America's best young sportswriter" will get you talking and thinking.
$16, ISBN 9781931859417

Sin Patron: Stories from Argentina's Worker-Run Factories
By the lavaca collective, foreword by Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis
The worker-run factories of Argentina offer an inspirational example of a struggle for social change that has achieved a real victory against corporate globalization.
$16, ISBN 9781931859431

Between the Lines: Israel, the Palestinians, and the U.S. "War on Terror"
By Tikva Honig-Parnass and Toufic Haddad
This thought-provoking analysis—edited by a Palestinian and an Israeli who collaborate to challenge the dominant understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict—shows how the apartheid-like conditions of Palestinians today have deep roots in the Israeli colonial project.
$17, ISBN 9781931859448

Revolution and Counterrevolution: Class Struggle in a Moscow Metal Factory
By Kevin Murphy
Kevin Murphy's writing, based on exhaustive research, is the most thorough investigation to date on working-class life during the revolutionary era, reviving the memory of the incredible gains for liberty and equality that the 1917 revolution brought about.
$20, ISBN 9781931859509

The Bending Cross: A Biography of Eugene V. Debs
By Ray Ginger, with a new introduction by Mike Davis
