Re: Michelle Malkin vs. Rev. Coleman, April 30 2007.
After 30 years as a journalist and on-camera talent, controversial topics are no news to me. I was trained by my teachers and encouraged by my superiors to expose both sides and report responsibly.
I'm appalled by the new breed of Fox News anchors such as Ms. Malkin, who not only does not stay unbiased to sides, but who performs Nazi-like attacks without mercy and thought to subjects who are willing to debate their views in public for what they believe is right.
What is the point of presenting a debate when you have aggressive, one-sided opinions by precisely an uneducated and insensitive anchor?
Now a day it seems that Fox only produces opinionated “talent” that are very good at looking pretty and pronounce correctly, instead of making sure to leave the battle between opposite subjects, and allow the viewers weight their opinions.
Ms. Malkin, you are too young, insensitive and irresponsible to know what your own family felt when they came to this country and applied for citizenship. The laws were drastically more lenient then, and you would not be here sitting pretty and abusing the power on your job if any of your family members were denied their requests. In my opinion, the plea of the new immigrants and views of Reverend Coleman are simple. They request the opportunity to comply with the law to stay in this country legally and not to be separated from their families, just as your family did in the past. They are seeking the opportunity to go though the process and be allowed the American dream, just as your family did.
As a note, the INS does not approve any applicants with spotted backgrounds to be allowed entry, so what’s your “beef” with Reverend Coleman’s humanitarian point of view, when he’s seeking for the government to give a young mother the opportunity to immigrate legally and remain with her child?
Ms. Malkin, you are a disgrace to the journalistic community.
You should be aware that audiences are not interested in your personal opinion, only in those who are making the news. Both sides are important and not your personal point of view. You have to learn that.
No kudos for Fox either for allowing your display of “professional abilities” on camera, which by the way, are more suited for a position as concentration camp interrogator.
Maybe you should go back to school and learn how to present facts, stay impartial and respect your guests. You are abusing the power of television and also disrespecting the viewers.
I suggest that you research your own family’s feelings, thoughts and hopes before the immigrated to this country and ask them how they would feel if they were submitted your personal style of questioning.
The way I see it, you owe an apology to Reverend Coleman and the viewers.
The topic was sanctuary and family displacement and not protection to criminals.
From now on, I beg you to please keep your opinions to yourself and just read the news.
