CHICAGO CHILDREN STEP UP TO PEACE
Grant Park, Saturday, May 26
Peace movement reaches out to young families!
Starting May 24, 2007 through Memorial Day, American Friends Service Committee (ASFC) along with Military Families Speak Out, CAWI and peace activists from the 50 states, will be in Grant Park in conjunction with the Eyes Wide Open "Boots Project" Installed at Jackson & Columbus.
Families are asked to bring discarded children’s shoes, to be tagged with the names of Iraqi children who have lost their lives to the conflict.. Parents and children will place the shoes into the exhibit in memoriam, as the names of the children are read.
This is a great opportunity to involve young families with children, who have been under-represented in the movement we have built so far against the illegal war and occupation of Iraq. But it’s potential depends on every member group, that is YOU taking advantage of this opportunity to reach young families through
--Neighborhood schools
--Churches
--Day care centers
--Community center after school programs
Here is some additional information:

THIS OUTREACH IS UP TO YOU.
Start with your own neighborhood groups and allies. But pro-peace Congress people (like Danny Davis, Jan Schakowsky, Jesse Jackson, Jr., Luis Gutierrez, and Bobby Rush) also have great lists of community resources and parent organizations. So do friendly aldermen and State Representatives and Senators. Contact your local office holders who are pro-peace and get together with their community outreach staff person on this.
