1916 Easter Commemoration SUNDAY

Dear Chicago area supporters of families of Irish Republican political prisoners;
This SUNDAY April 22nd the Irish Freedom Committee is hosting a 2-hour commemoration of the April 24, 1916 Easter Uprising against the British. The event promises to be a good one with live performances by Steve Fitzgerald and friends; and recent news from Maghaberry jail, where Irish Republican POWs are now in isolation on punishment blocks for wearing the Easter lily to commemorate their dead. We will also have a statement from some of the families of the men on punishment and the POWs themselves. And of course we are raffling off a stunning hand-painted hankie made by one of the POWs at Maghaberry who is now on protest over the prison's racist and sectarian refusal to allow the men wear the Easter lily.
Please come to this important event! There is no charge at the door and all proceeds from the raffle go DIRECT to families of Irish Republican political prisoners - several of whom have not been able to contact or visit their loved ones at Maghaberry jail since Easter, due to their being placed in isolation after the Easter protests. The event goes from 1:00 - 3:00 PM THIS SUNDAY at Murphy's in Forest Park. All details and contact info follow in the announcement below. All are welcome - Please forward to friends!
