The biotech industry is bringing thousands of executives, lawyers, public relations people and corporate scientists to Boston in early May to promote their agenda of genetically engineered food, unaffordable high-tech medicines and dangerous 'biodefense' research that increases the threat of new biological weapons. Through parades, rallies, educational events and publications, music, a free health care clinic and free daily non-GMO meals, Biojustice 2007 will dramatize popular resistance to this agenda and highlight a wealth of community-based alternatives.

Friday May 4th
7 – 9:30 PM: Opening event at Old South Church (Copley Square) – "International Farmers Speak Out,” with Anna Lappé (Small Planet Institute), Ignacio Chapela (University of California, Berkeley), representatives of international farmers’ movements from Brazil, Bangladesh and elsewhere, music, and more.

Saturday May 5th
10 – 11:30 AM: Panel discussion: “Biotechnology, Medicine and Human Rights,” at Old South Church, featuring Judy Norsigian (Our Bodies Ourselves), George Annas (Boston University), John Abramson (MD, author of Overdosed America), Sandy Eaton (RN, Mass-Care & Mass. Nurses Association), and others.

12:30 – 5 PM: Wake up the Earth Festival in Jamaica Plain, with speakers, music, tables, kids’ games, etc.

Sunday May 6th
11 AM – 1 PM: Environmental Justice tour and puppet parade in Roxbury, with SafetyNet and other local groups

1 – 4 PM: Community gathering in Blackstone Park, with festivities, and a panel of speakers on the proposed Boston U. bioweapons facility planned for the neighborhood.

5 PM (tentative): Premiere screenplay reading of The Donors, a science fiction thriller set in 2030. A feisty teenage clone battles a transnational corporation that plans to sell off her organs; she joins with activists and her biological family to try to save the lives of "donor" children. 6- 8PM: Rising Tide Road Show, Includes a slide show on mountain top removal coal mining, presentations on global struggle against environmental degradation and food security, social justice songs, and a confronting climate change musical!
