Chicago Independent TV in Mar: DC Protest, Gitmo Protest, AWOL Vet, M20 Video and more.
ON THE SHOW THIS MONTH:
SDS at DC Anti-War March – On January 27th, 2007, close to half a million people joined in a major peace demonstration in Washington DC. During the event, the new Students for a Democratic Society called for an assembly of student groups. This assembly then approached the steps of the Capitol building where there was a confrontation with police. We present a report on this action filed by a Chicagoan who was there.
Guantanamo Prison Camp 5th Anniversary protest – In January of 2007, Chicago activists marked the fifth anniversary of the opening of the prison camp at Guantanamo, Cuba, with a protest in Federal Plaza. Indymedia videographers were there to show us what happened.
Kyle Snyder Interview (AWOL Iraq War Veteran) - We feature part of an interview with Kyle Snyder, an Iraq War Veteran and antiwar activist. Kyle talks about American wars abroad and his attempts to seek a discharge from the U.S. Army.
Coalition of Immokalee Workers Chicago Protest - The coalition of Immokalee Workers is a group of farm workers and labor activists from the town of Immokalee, Florida. They are currently organizing protests against McDonald’s that are to take place in Chicago in April 2007. These protest are part of a campaign to raise the wages and working conditions of McDonald's workers. In this segment from Austin Indymedia, we visit a protest march to the Chicago Rock-and-Roll McDonald's that occurred on April 2006.
M20 Video Flyer - Tuesday March 20th, 2007 will mark the 4th anniversary of the start of the Iraq War. On that day thousands of people will march down Chicago's Michigan Avenue through the north loop. This video flyer, available for download on YouTube, was produced by the March 20 Coalition during a recent media skill share and is being used to promote the march.

WHO WE ARE:
We are the Chicago Indymedia Video Collective. We operate along the same
lines as Indymedia, fostering the same ideals and processes. We are a
collective of media producers, activists, videographers and concerned
citizens offering your alternative to mainstream corporate coverage of local
and international events, movements and expression. In the summer of 2003
the idea of an independent television show, free from corporate bias and
serving the needs of the community, was conceived. Chicago Independent
Television is the result of that movement.
Our mission is to provide YOUR CORPORATE NEWS ALTERNATIVE.
