Tell me about "that's just the way it is" Mr. Mayor

Don't fall for the people who try to tell you Daley owns the joint.. just because those suckers are bought and sold like commodities, doesn't mean you have to be. Don't let suckers who are trying to save their jobs assume such large responsibility, they're just patronage slugs with little to no talent.
From Dock Walls

Soon, I will release a comprehensive document entitled, "Chicago Makeover - Something for Everyone".

Meanwhile I hope the points below provide some insight into my general philosophies.

Structural changes I would enact as mayor include:

Mayoral term limits (a limit of two consecutive 4 year terms); City
Council Subpoena Power, and Censure of city officials and city
contractors who violate the public trust or fail to fully cooperate with
City Council Ethic Committee investigations.

We would balance the city budget without reliance upon one-time
revenue sources, fines and regressive taxes; Maintain sufficient cash reserves; Lower the Retail Sales Tax to 8.5%.

We would build low income housing on the 10,000
city owned vacant lots using a Habitat for Humanity concept, allowing persons who will live in those houses and apartments, and others who will live in similar apartments, to assist in the building process.

In a bold move to conserve energy and enable people to spend more time with their families, we would establish a 4-day, 10-hour a day, 40 hour workweek for all city employees. Furthermore,
we would invest in municipal vehicles that are powered by alternative fuel sources. We must aid in the quest for alternative forms of energy, by expediting request for licensing, and provide other incentives including the land necessary to establish alternative energy production companies.

As Blue Bag recycling is phased out and replaced with point separation, we must ensure the participation of small businesses and non-profits in the recycling program. Chicago's city government must make a commitment to establish a recycling facility in each ward of the city. Furthermore, to ensure adequate markets for recycled materials, we must establish direct relationships with bottlers, packaging companies and environment friendly developers.

We would encourage the greening of Chicago including water permeable asphalt. I am in favor of examining the feasibility of windmills atop certain buildings. We should solicit Federal tax breaks for businesses and individuals who install solar panels.

To be truly competitive in this global economy, Chicago must develop
and efficiently maintain our public infrastructure. We must invest in
a complete wifi system to enable all to freely access the Internet. As
we endeavor to increase industry and bring jobs back to Chicago, we must prepare to expedite rush-hour traffic. Therefore, we should make a commitment to build a Cross-town expressway.

Thank You,
