Education for All

"Cuba will not give up on searching for an education system that offers optimum quality to all; at schools and universities, and in any country that requests our cooperation," said Cuban Education Minister Luis Ignacio Gomez.

Gomez spoke about topics that will be debated during the Pedagogy 2007 International Convention to take place in Havana from January 29 to February 2 with the participation of 4,400 delegates from the Americas, Asia and Oceania, and 1,300 from Cuba.

The Cuban delegation will present 754 papers, exceeded only by Venezuela that will be brining 879. Mexico and Brazil will also offer a significant number of presentations for a total of 2,411.

The conference, in its tenth edition, will also conduct an in-depth review of Latin American and universal thoughts on pedagogy, and analyze ways to achieve quality education for all, according to statements by the Cuban minister of Education.

Minister Gomez said that South-South cooperation is an opportunity open for Third World nations to fulfill the goals of literacy. He added that the experiences of Cuban teachers working abroad in diverse educational missions will also be heard.
