Confluence (stlconfluence.org) is planning an issue on police violence, alterntives to "police" and how communities are affected by police abuse.
We are working with a group that has been trying to get a civilian oversite board in our city (an uphill battle, to say the least) and folks trying to get Reggie Clemmens off death row--he was convicted for a high profile 1991 murder after police beat him, coerced a confession and his court -appointed lawyer told him to plead guilty. Reggie is an African-American, the victim was white, you will probably be not surprised to learn.
We are looking for writings, reports, photos, artwork etc. concerning police misconduct in the Chicago area (or anywher for that matter).
