Come to the Holiday Appeal for Class-War Prisoners, an event in solidarity with Mumia and 15 other men and women imprisoned for fighting for black rights, for standing up to racist capitalist repression. December 10th, from 3 to 7 pm at the United Electrical Hall, 37 S. Ashland (at Monroe), in Chicago, is the time and place for the 21st annual fundraising party to support sending monthly stipends to these courageous fighters. All Holiday Appeal proceeds will go to the Class-War Prisoners Stipend Fund. Tickets are $5 in advance, $8 at the door and $10 contributing. To purchase tickets and more information, call the Partisan Defense Committee at (312) 563-0442.

December 9th will mark the 25th anniversary of the ongoing frame-up of Mumia Abu-Jamal, an innocent man. A former Black Panther Party spokesman, supporter of the MOVE organization and award-winning journalist, Mumia was jailed on false charges of killing a Philadelphia police officer. Sentenced to death based on his political history and beliefs, Mumia’s appeal awaits what may well be a final decision by the federal appeals court. The state is determined to carry out his execution. The frame-up of Mumia Abu-Jamal shows what the death penalty is all about -- a legacy of chattel slavery, the lynch rope made legal. This case exemplifies the race and class bias of the U.S. justice system against workers, black people, the poor and all the oppressed. The notorious trial judge Albert Sabo was overheard at the time promising, “I’m going to help them fry the n----r.” Both the Pennsylvania state courts and the federal courts have refused to consider the reams of documented evidence that prove Mumia’s innocence including the sworn confession of Arnold Beverly that he, not Mumia, shot and killed the police officer, and that Mumia had nothing to do with the shooting.
