OUL welcomes a presentation from a delegation from ChicagOtra regarding the ongoing political struggle for economic and social justice in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. They will offer the latest news as well as video footage of the ongoing battle which pits the Oaxaca People's Popular Assembly (APPO), representing civil society, against federal paramilitary police and gunsills under the control of the tyrannical Oaxaca governor Ulisis Ruiz. The ChicagOtra collective is a Zapatista solidarity group and adherents to the Zapatista Other Campaign formed here in Chicago. Thru their ongoing efforts, this collective seeks to raise political awareness and organize support for this under reported yet critically important political struggle.
