Day Against Poverty events at Harold Washington College, 10/17/06
On October 17, 2006, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Harold Washington College (30 E. Lake St.) will host an observance of the United Nation's International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.
The event will promote increased awareness of the need to eradicate poverty around the world. Speakers will be visiting from the Congo, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and Mexico. The keynote speech will be given by Illinois Representative Jan Schakowsky. We will also welcome representatives from eight charitable organizations, who will be speaking to students and other attendees about their work in the fight against poverty.
