Congress Calls for Direct Action

by: anonymous - from the NYC IMC [comments]
With the passage of the Military Commissions Act in both houses of Congress, the Bush administration has recieved legal mandate to indefinately detain, torture and dissapear anyone, citizen or non-citizen, who it deems an "illegal enemy combatant," all without judicial oversight or review. Your Congress has sold the very basis of American constitutional law, and is now as irrelevent as the disposed law itself. There is no legitimatcy left in the federal government.

In essence, Congress has challenged the very ideals purported by our country and forced us all to take action. On October 5, as WCW demonstrations are unfolding in U.S. cities across the continent, let them see our resistence in the streets, in our schools, in their offices. Let us seek out those who supported this legislation and occupy their offices; let us block traffic and shut down our cities; let us put our bodies before the path of such injustice.

Now more than ever, in the face of this breakdown of law, is non-violent civil disobedience imperitive. Be creative, be militant, and don't be moved!
