Monday, Aug. 21 * 5PM * Kennedy Plaza * March to BICE office on Dyer St.

Elvira is a Mexican immigrant currently living in Chicago with her 7-year-old son, Saul. The federal government is threatening to deport her, just as it has terrorized thousands of other Latin@, African, and Asian immigrant workers.

US imperialism doesn't obey any immigration laws when it brings war's terrible destruction to every continent of the world. US corporations didn't ask anyone's permission before invading Mexico with NAFTA, driving millions of workers and peasants into poverty. But immigrant workers like Elvira, who are only looking for a chance to improve their lives, are hunted like criminals. Hundreds die every year on the border as they try to escape the racist border police.

The capitalist parties, Democrats and Republicans, are on a racist anti-immigrant hate campaign to keep immigrants and their families fearful and oppressed, hoping that they will work for very low wages with no rights. The anti-immigrant campaign is an attack on all workers, because by dividing workers into "legal" and "illegal", it aims at breaking up our unions and turning us against each other when we should be fighting our real enemy, the bosses who exploit us all, and their government that protects them.

Elvira has taken refuge from the police in a church near her home since August 15. But no religion can stop the anti-immigrant hate campaign. Only the massive, independent, and united action of the working class can stop the 21st century slave-catchers of the migra from terrorizing our immigrant sisters and brothers. We call on all the unions to mobilize their members for this protest! Form workplace committees to defend immigrants' rights! May 1 showed the way: unleash labor's power with a general strike for full citizenship rights for all immigrants!

MARCHA y MANIFESTACIÓN

Elvira es un inmigrante mexicana que ahora mismo vive en Chicago. El gobierno federal la amenaza de deportarla, como ha terrorizado miles de trabajadores inmigrantes latin@s, asiatic@s, y african@s.

El imperialismo EE.UU. no observa ningún ley cuando impone la destrucción terrible de la guerra en todos los continentes del mundo. Las empresas norteamericanas no pidieron permiso de ninguno cuando invadieron a México con ACLNA, impulsando milliones de trabajadores y campesin@s a la pobreza. Pero EE.UU. da caza a trabajadores inmigrantes como Elvira, que solo buscan un opción para mejorar sus vidas, como si fueran criminales. Cientos mueren cada año en la frontera evitando a la policia fronteriza racista.

Los partidos capitalistas, republicanos y demócratas, ponen en pie una campaña de odio racista antiinmigrante para mantener l@s inmigrantes y sus familias temoros@s y oprimid@s. Esperan que l@s inmigrantes trabajen con sueldos bajisimos y sin ningún derecho. La campaña antiinmigrante es un ataque contra tod@s l@s trabajadores, porque por medida de dividirnos entre "legales" y "ilegales", tiene ojectivo de romper nuestros sindicatos y ponernos en contra de nosotros uno a otro, en vez de luchar contra nuestros enemigos verdaderos, los patrones que nos explotan tod@s, y el gobierno que les defiende.

Elvira pidió refugio en una iglesia vecino a su casa desde el 15 de agosto. Pero ninguna religion puede parar la campaña de odio antiinmigrante. Solo la acción masiva, independiente, y unida de la clase obrera es capaz de prevenir los cazadores de esclavos del siglo 21, la migra, de terrorizar nuestr@s herman@s inmigrantes. ¡Llamamos a todos los sindicatos a movilizar sus miembr@s para esta manifestación! ¡Forjemos comites en los lugares de trabajo en defensa de los derechos de l@s inmigrantes! El 1ro de mayo nos mostró el camino: ¡desateamos al poder obrero en la huelga general para plenos derechos de ciudadanía para tod@s inmigrantes!
