From SPAIN- The Chief Prosecutor in Saddam Hussein's trial has demanded the death penalty for crimes against humanity. Then a press review on Saddam's trial. The Spanish northeastern region of Catalonia passed a referendum to give it more autonomy, but opponents claim that the 50% voter turnout makes the results invalid. In Iraq, the kidnappers of 4 Russian embassy staff members said they would execute the hostages because Russia failed to pull troops from Chechnya.
From NETHERLANDS- Russia is sticking to a hardline position in Chechnya, where Special Police Forces murdered a rebel leader who wanted to develop a compromise with Moscow. Some Dutch politicians want to legalize the growing of cannabis, but there is pressure against it from the EU and the UN- this despite the fact that producing cannabis is not being stopped.
From CUBA- Italian prosecutors are calling for the indictment of the US soldier who murdered an Italian Intelligence officer protecting an Italian journalist who had just been freed from being a hostage in Iraq. A LA Times reporter has described "a Pentagon power play," when she and 2 others were rapidly removed from Guantanamo Bay prison camp following 3 inmate suicides.
From RUSSIA- 13 civilians were killed by US forces in a village NE of Baghdad. Members of the US Congress were not able to prevent the G-8 summit from occurring in Russia next month. The US State Department continues to be displeased with the development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which wants a time frame for the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
There is an article about the Shortwave Report by Cassandra Roos on line at- www.campusprogress.org/soundvision/780/big-stories-shortwaves

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm (PDST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via <http://www.kzyx.org >
There are several other streams that work better- < www.freakradio.org >Freak Radio Santa Cruz  now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am (PST)
The Shortwave Report may be downloaded as a podcast from < www.radio4all.net >

I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt! (maybe a little)
