FIESTA CULTURAL: Latino Music, Dance, Art & Food Fair

FIESTA CULTURAL celebrates Latin America's rich and diverse cultural heritage with music & dance performances, a food fair, silent auction and kid’s art activities. The event is bilingual, family-friendly and open to the public. The event celebrates cultural and artistic diversity while raising much-needed funds for the public school.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, INTER-AMERICAN SCHOOL is hosting their second annual spring benefit, FIESTA CULTURAL, on Saturday, April 1, 2006 from 4 to 8 PM at 919 West Barry (between Sheffield Ave. & Clark/Halsted St.) in Chicago.

FIESTA CULTURAL celebrates Latin America’s rich and diverse cultural heritage with music and dance performances, a food fair, silent auction and children’s art activities. The event celebrates cultural and artistic diversity while raising much-needed funds for the public school.

The lineup includes live entertainment from BANDOLA TRIO (Venezuela), JUVENATO (Afro-Caribbean Vallenato de Colombia), GRUPO YUBA (bomba y plena de Puerto Rico), SANTA TEREZITA DANCE GROUP (Ecuador), TIERRA COLOMBIANA FOLKLORIC DANCE COMPANY (Colombia), VIENTO DE LOS ANDES (folkloric music of the Andes, Peru), and student performances from RICO MUSIC & DANCE STUDIO (Spain, Bolivia and Colombia) and DANZA MEXICA (Aztec). The event is bilingual, family-friendly and open to the public. Tickets sold at the door, $7 adults, $2.50 children. Free parking will be available on school grounds and in the Illinois Masonic hospital parking lot. This benefit was made possible in part by generous contributions from our title sponsors: Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, the Chicago Cubs and La Raza.

INTER-AMERICAN MAGNET SCHOOL is considered a national model of successful bilingual, multicultural education. Located in Chicago’s north side, the public elementary school serves over 660 multi-ethnic and economically diverse Pre-K through 8th grade students from all over the city.
