Pinkney of the Black Autonomy Network Community Organization, a vocal and effective critic of the Whirlpool-dominated power structure in Berrien County, Michigan, is being tried this week in St. Joe, Michigan. Pinkney is being villified for drumming up effective opposition to the $500 million Harbor Shores gentrification project that will displace poor, mostly black Benton Harbor residents.
