OUL is pleased to present author Kari Lydersen who will discuss her book "Out of the Sea and Into the Fire: Latin American-US Immigration in the Global Age." This book looks at the personal experiences of people forced by the effects of free trade policies to leave their homes. The book shows us the human side of the abstract acronyms like NAFTA, FTAA and PPP: fishermen sadly leaving the sea in Oaxaca, young women toiling in toxic conditions in maquila factories at the border, immigrants bravely fighting for their rights in the U.S.
