Stop Alito Rally: Jan. 10, Downtown Chicago
Please join us at the Thompson Center on Jan. 10 at Noon, when over 40 Illinois public interest organizations rally to call on Senators Dick Durbin and Barack Obama to vote against Alito's confirmation.
Who:
Illinois Coalition for Fair Courts
What:
Rally to Stop Alito's Nomination to the US Supreme Court
When:
Tuesday, January 10, 2005, starts at 12pm
Where:
Thompson Center - NW corner of Clark and Randolph (downtown Chicago)
Why:
Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito has spent years advancing a far-right legal and judicial philosophy, one that would dramatically
weaken American's civil rights and legal protections.
Alito has argued in favor of largely unchecked executive branch power, but against the ability of Congress to protect the "health, safety, and welfare" of Americans. He has tried to authorize expansive police power at the expense of individuals' rights, to gut environmental protections, to weaken protections against discrimination, and to undermine Roe v. Wade.
Please join us at the Thompson Center on Jan. 10, when over 40 Illinois public interest organizations rally to call on Senators
Dick Durbin and Barack Obama to vote against Alito's confirmation.
There will be hot chocolate donated by dollop Coffee Co., 4181 N. Clarendon Ave, Chicago, IL
Call 312-726-2179 if you have any questions.
