Havana, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) Pitchers Norge Luis Vera and Jonder Martinez, who attended the Athens 2004 Olympics, stand out on the Cuban national team for the Caribbean Baseball tournament Puerto Rico will host October 7-17.


Catchers include Yulexis La Rosa, Vladimir Garcia and Yosvani Peraza, while Loidel Chapelli, Yorbis Borroto, Yorelvis Charles, Donal Duarte, Hector Olivera and Danel Castro are the infielders.



Budding stars like Juan Carlos Linares, Andy Zamora, Yoandri Garlobo, Yoennis Cespedes and Roger Poll are the outfielders.



Right-handers Jose Angel Garcia, Alberto Bicet, Deinys Suarez, Yadel Marti, Valeri Garcia and Alien Mora, and lefthander Yosvani Fonseca complete the young but very solid Cuban pitching roster.



The team will be skippered by Alfonso Urquiola, with Primitivo Diaz, Rolando Verde and Jose Manuel Pedroso as coaches.



Cuba, current World and Olympic champion, the Dominican Republic, US Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Dutch Antilles, Aruba, British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico will compete for four slots for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Cartagena, Colombia, in 2006.
