[permalink] A resident of Chicago's Forest Park neighborhood began a blog called Proviso Probe to report on his local political scene. On September 3, Proviso Probe reported that the arrest on drug charges of an area man who happened to be the brother of the president of the Proviso Township High Schools Board of Education.

The blogger in question has been threatened by the president with a defamation lawsuit, opening a whole host of questions regarding the law and community journalism, particularly in a time when Big Media have been increasingly redlining local news coverage. Read more
