Buenos Aires, Jul 21 (Prensa Latina) Despite international and regional complications, Rio Group Foreign Affairs Ministers are kicking off Thursday a two-day meeting in this capital to clear the way for the next summit.


According to the agenda, the meeting will analyze joint actions to be proposed to the presidential meeting in Bariloche in August, directed at Haiti´s political and economic stabilization.



Several regional countries like Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay have sent troops there to form a multinational force to try and stabilize the Caribbean nation.



Leonardo Franco, assistant secretary of Latin American Policy at Argentina´s Foreign Affairs Ministry, said thorny issues include efficiency and conciliation of a common position for the 4th Summit of the Americas to be held in November in Mar del Plata.



Other topics include new financial mechanisms for sustainable development of the region, improvement of consultation devices and political agreement.



The Rio Group is made up of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela and Guyana, presenting the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
