Remembering the Srebrenica massacre: 10 years since the genocide
Monday, July 25;
6:30 p.m.
In July 1995, Serbian ethnic chauvinist paramilitary troops intent on eliminating the Muslim population of Bosnia overran the village of Srebrenica, in eastern Bosnia. UN troops responsible for protecting the Muslims stood by as the Serb soldiers murdered the male population of the village. Participate in a meeting to commemorate the tenth anniversary of this event and discuss the meaning and legacy of the 1991-1995 Bosnian struggle for self-determination.
The meeting will include a screening of the 2001 WNET documentary “Srebrenica: a cry from the grave” (87 minutes) and comments by Kevin Anderson, a contributor to the News & Letters publication "Bosnia-Hercegovina: Achilles Heel of Western Civilization"
