Tropical Storm Dennis Threatens the Eastern Caribbean Sea
Havana, Jul 5 (Prensa Latina) A Cuban Meteorological Institute (INSMET) report located Tropical storm Dennis at 11:00 am local time at 13.3 degrees north and 66.6 degrees west, some 570 km south of San Juan, Puerto Rico.


The storm has been described as fast moving in a north westerly direction and gaining strength, with sustained winds of 65 km/h and gust, minimum pressure 1,006 HP, moving at 30 km/h.



Forecasts for the next 12 to 24 hours indicate a movement to the west-north west of the Caribbean Sea. Experts claim July 5 is the earliest that four tropical storms have formed in the basin of the Atlantic Ocean.



The INSMET said Dennis will pass by Jamaica Thursday morning. The Dominican Republic has issued an alert for its southern coast. The storm is expected to hit western Cuba between Friday and Saturday.



Meanwhile Cindy, the third tropical storm of the season, is moving northward at 14 km/h and is expected to enter US territory through the coasts of Louisiana. It is expected to grow stronger before reaching continental US, according to INSMET reports.



The official storm season began June 1 for the north Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea Areas, and is expected to be very active with the occurrence of 13 cyclones, seven of which are expected to become
