FSLN Will Respect Nicaraguan Presidential Mandate

FSLN Will Respect Nicaraguan Presidential Mandate
Managua, Jul 6 (Prensa Latina) Without an immediate solution to the political crisis in Nicaragua in sight, the National Sandinista Liberation Front (FSLN) reiterated its position of not interrupting the mandate of current Nicaraguan President Enrique Bolaņos.

Deputy Jose Figueroa told the press FSLN would keep on working towards winning the 2006 elections.

He also stated FSLN would not follow the game of the Nicaraguan government, which wants to hold a referendum on the reforms to the Constitution already approved by the National Assembly.

He said that the Executive, FSLN, and the Liberal Constitutionalist Party (PLC) should present their initiatives to overcome the crisis.

Monday, FSLN secretary general Daniel Ortega insisted that President Bolaņos should come to the table and talk, and leave intransigence behind.

Ortega commented that the Nicaraguan population is concerned about the public transport situation, electric power, and the Free Trade Treaty (FTT) with US.

He stated that if FSLN wins the elections, it will give the power to the people, workers, farmers, etc.

He talked about the creation of the so-called Assemblies for Citizensī Power, which should determine the state budget, and appoint and replace officials who do not fulfil the laws.
