More US and Iraqi Troops Killed

Bagdad, Jun 22 (Prensa Latina) The Iraqi resistance continued targeting US and Iraqi troops Wednesday, killing seven US troops and two Iraqi soldiers in separate attacks in rejection of the foreign occupation started in March 2003, military sources reported.


The US Central Command reported that two Task Force Danger Soldiers were killed and one was wounded Wednesday when their convoy was attacked by small arms fire near Balad around 12:45 pm. The wounded Soldier was transported to a Coalition medical facility near Balad.

The military release also revealed that Four Marines assigned to 1st Marine Expeditionary Force were killed Tuesday in an action against the rebel forces near Ar Ramadi.



Also Tuesday, one Task Force Baghdad Soldier was killed and seven others were wounded in a mortar attack in north-central Baghdad at about 10:00 local time.



Six of the wounded were soldiers and one was a contract worker. The wounded were taken to a nearby military medical treatment facility.



The US has lost 1726 soldiers in Iraq in 27 months of aggression and later occupation, most of them killed by the resistance.



Meanwhile, the Iraqi Interior Ministry reported Wednesday that two police officers were killed and the same number wounded when a car bomb exploded in the path of Turkmen party chief Saad al-Din Arjaj"s convoy in Madain, south of capital Baghdad. Al-Din escaped the assassination attempt.



In Baghdad, two civilians were wounded by a bomb that targeted a US convoy in the central al-Fadil neighbourhood. The US military gave no further information on the attack.
