Public Broadcasting Faces Conservative Threats
Moyers Refutes Accusations of Liberal Bias


Bill Moyers, veteran broadcast journalist, documentary producer, and author, rocked the audience at the National Conference for Media Reform in St. Louis on Sunday, May 15, with a stinging indictment of Beltway journalism, a strong defense of his public affairs program, "NOW," and a powerful reminder that the mandate of the Public Broadcasting System is to "defend the interests of the people who have to live with the consequences of corporate and governmental power."

Moyers' rallying cry, which was echoed by more than 2,000 people attending the
three-day conference convened by Free Press, was covered by Chicago Access Network Television (CAN TV).

CAN TV will cablecast the speech in Chicago:
Sunday, May 22 at 11 a.m. on cable channel CAN TV21
Monday, May 23 at 9 a.m. on cable channel CAN TV19.

It will be aired on Free Speech TV:
Friday, May 20 at 11 p.m. (CDT)
Saturday, May 21 at 4 a.m., 7 a.m., noon, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. (CDT)
Sunday, May 22 at midnight, 5 a.m., noon, and 9 p.m. (CDT).

The program will be telecast by LINK TV on:
Tuesday, May 24 at 10 p.m.(CDT) .

LINK TV is seen on DIRECTV (Channel 375) and the DISH Network (Channel 9410). Currently, the channel is available as a basic service in over 22.4 million U.S. homes that receive direct broadcast satellite (DBS) television
