David Horowitz will be speaking tomorrow night in Fisk Hall at 7:30. While we respect his right to speak, we disagree with him. Here's why:

He campaigns heavily for the so-called Students for Academic Freedom, a group which encourages students to research faculty's voting registrations and report faculty's political comments in complaints to administrators. Purporting to oppose "political indoctrination," the group has sought to remove acclaimed books about important social issues, such as "Nickel and Dimed" by Barbara Ehrenreich and "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser, from college reading lists.

Horowitz on racial profiling: "Where "profiling" means that race is but one element in a clearly defined criminal dossier, it must be defended on the merits, because – among other things -- it is the best way to protect minorities themselves." And: "How are the police going to avoid stopping a greater percentage of black males than white, if they are to protect citizens from the criminals who prey on them?"

He has called dissenters "anti-American" and said they "give aid and comfort to America's enemies." His online newsmagazine urges readers to "sign our e-petition to EXPOSE THE ENEMY WITHIN today." "Moonbat Central," a blog Horowitz edits, has accused the peace group "Code Pink" of supporting terrorists and committing "sabotage."
