Dr. Anita Chan, an expert on Chinese labor conditions talks about the struggles of Chinese workers and their place in the new global economy.

Anita Chan is a native of Hong Kong, Research Fellow at the Contemporary China Centre of the Australian National University, and co-editor of The China Journal. Her current research focuses on Chinese labor issues. She has published widely on Chinese workers’ conditions, trade unions, and labor rights issues. She is committed to campaigning for labor rights to be recognized as human rights. She is author
of China's Workers’ Under Assault, and other
publications dealing with Chinese labor rights, trade unions, the WTO and labor, social clauses, and related issues. Chan has done extensive work with the Chinese Working Women’s Network and has just returned from a worker’s training project inside supplier factories in Shenzhen, China.
