Prayer Vigil Against Hate

This is an urgent request from the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) asking organizations and individuals to join a prayer vigil against hate in response to the FAIR. Please pass this urgent information on.

FAIR, the nation's leading anti-immigrant group, is coming to Chicago to spread their message of hate: "illegal aliens and the potential terrorists among them." We want you to be there with us to denounce their hate speech, alongside dozens of immigrant leaders and an interfaith assembly of clergy. Join us for a Prayer Vigil during Holy Week to end hate speech against hardworking immigrants, and work towards an inclusive immigration policy that rewards hard work and keeps families together. Help us support policies that are rooted in compassion, fairness, and in welcoming the stranger among us.

BACKGROUND

As part of a concerted Midwest organizing drive in advance of their April national lobbying day, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) has announced plans to return to the Chicagoland area.

The FAIR meeting is scheduled to take place at 7:00pm on Tuesday, March 22 at the Lincoln Restaurant, 4008 North Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL.
