For three weeks, faculty of Northeastern Illinois University have been on strike. Their demands include reasonable workloads, an equitable pay schedule, appropriate pay raises, academic freedom, and affordable health care.
On December 7, students and organizers had organized a solidarity rally downtown. On the same day, a press release from strikers announced that "Northeastern Illinois University administration and the University Professionals of Illinois Local 4100 have reached a tentative contract agreement."
