Statement From NEIU Chapter President Ed Hunt
CHICAGO, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is a statement from NEIU Chapter President Ed Hunt:
Once again, the NEIU administration's bargaining team refused to make any significant compromises and move towards reaching a settlement. This strike will not end until they are willing to compromise. Right now, I see no end to this strike.
All I see is the administration making threats.
-- Threats to cut off health insurance for union\ members and their families.
-- Bogus threats to deport faculty from other countries who are supporting the strike.
-- Threats to stop paying student workers because of the strike.
-- Threats to students who don't cross the picket line.
The university administration is more focused on intimidation and punishment than settling this strike. They need to focus on reaching a resolution and getting students back in class.
Mediation is not scheduled again until December 8th. We are quickly running out of days to still finish the semester.
