CALL FOR WITNESSES

As most people know, three individuals were picked out
of the crowd and arrested during the closing march of
DNC protests. One of the three, due to the
difficulties of traveling cross-country for court
dates, took pretrial probation. Two remain in the
court system. The former charge of possession of an
infernal machine (originally possession of a hoax
device as dnc protesters may remember it) is not being
prosecuted. However, the state wouldn't drop all its
absurd charges. One of our friends faces a charge
of disturbing the peace and the other faces a charge
of assault and battery on an officer.

A trial date has been set for december for the a&b case.
Our friend charged with disturbing the peace has a trial
date in january.

We need to gather witnesses for both cases, though the
a&b case is more urgent since the trial is approaching
quickly.

What we need: Witnesses who saw what took place
leading up to the arrests, including photos/video. We
have people who saw the arrests take place, but we
really need people who can testify as to what took
place before the arrests. (For instance, there was
talk in the media about an officer's hat getting
knocked off by a protester. Our lawyers are interested
in speaking with you if you saw or documented this or
whatever actually happened that turned into this
story. But we're also interested in hearing from
anyone who saw what happened to our friends before
they got arrested - you may have helpful information
if you saw anything.)

How to contact us: If you are a potential witness,
please contact the Anarchist Black Cross of Boston at
abc-boston (at) hush.com. We are in constant contact with
the National Lawyers Guild and have worked with other
comrades from arrest through trial.

Information we will need from potential witnesses
(Even if you don't send this in your initial email to
us, this information is necessary so our lawyers can
contact you and potentially put your name on the
witness list): Full legal name, date of birth, phone
number. Also, if you have ever been convicted of a
crime, our lawyers like to know that upfront.

What happens: First, our lawyers will want to call all
potential witnesses and ask them some questions about
what they saw. You may then be asked to testify at the
trial if you have useful and/or unique information. If
you need, a summons can be issued so you have
documentation for work/school.
