American Indian Center to Celebrate 51st Annual Powwow from November 12-14

Join the American Indian Center for our 51st Annual Powwow, to be held from November 12-14 at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

WHAT: Experience Native American culture, music and dance at the American Indian Center's 51stAnnual Powwow November 12-14 at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the UIC Pavilion. The annual event attracts hundreds of Native Americans representing more than 50 nations from across the U.S& Canada.

The sights and sounds are spectacular! More than 400 dancers in full, vibrantly colored regalia will perform throughout the weekend. With more than 40 Native American vendors selling authentic arts, crafts and jewelry, visitors can shop for holiday gifts while enjoying Native American food to satisfy their taste buds. The audience is invited to participate during the inter-tribal dancing.

What's a Powwow?
A Powwow is a social event bringing American Indian people together to celebrate their culture through dance, song, renewing old friendships and making new ones. This is a time, to honor the past and preserve a rich heritage, it is also, a chance for our friends and families to learn about Native American culture and participate in the intertribal dancing.

WHO: All Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Indian Center (AIC), a non-profit cultural, educational and social service organization serving, Chicago and the Native American community.

The annual Powwow is the largest cultural event for the AIC supporting many important “Positive Path Programs”in after school educational assistance, cultural development, art, computer training classes, school educational tours and our food pantry.

WHERE: University of Illinois at Chicago in the UIC Pavilion at 1150 W Harrison in Chicago.

WHEN: November 12th,13th,&14th

* Friday, Nov. 12, 5pm-10pm (Grand Entry at 7pm)
* Saturday, Nov. 13, 10am-10pm (Grand Entry at 1pm & 7pm)
* Sunday, Nov. 14, 10am-5pm (Grand Entry 12pm)

ADMISSION: $10 Adults ;$5 Seniors;&Children up to 12 (children under 5 free), $18 Weekend Pass.
