On Saturday, October 16, the Illinois Family Institute (IFI), Concerned Women of America and others opposed to equal rights for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgender people will rally in Marquette Park in an attempt to bring to Illinois a statewide constitutional amendment banning equal marriage rights for Lesbians and Gays. This is the kickoff rally to a hate-across-the-state bus tour of bigotry.

Constitutional amendments such as these represent a grave threat to our community! And, if successful, to other groups as well. Please join the Church of the Open Door, Equal Marriage Now! and the Chicago Anti-Bashing Network in a nonviolent protest against the IFI and other hate groups. Don't let the IFI bring gay-hating legislation to our state!

Pro-gay rights forces will assemble at 1 PM, Saturday, October 16 at the Park on the corner of Kedzie and 67th Street, Chicago. From there we will travel as a group to protest against those who are trying to deprive us of our rights.

Bigots are also set to rally this Saturday in Elmhurst: 5 PM Wilder Park, 175 Prospect Avenue in Elmhurst, Illinois. Although sucessful in blocking the hate mongers from their campus, LGBT students at Elmhurst College Need Our Support!

[Elmhurst College is easily accessible via the Union Pacific West Metra line, for $5 round trip (departing at Olgivie Transportation Center) Interstate 290, and route 83/Kingery highway. Parking is free, and a guide will be waiting at the station to direct groups to the campus, located a block away.]
