Dear Friends of Animals,

On Tuesday, October 5, the DuPage Judicial and Public Safety Committee decided to close its 2 week "investigation" of allegations of animal neglect at DuPage County Animal Control brought by Cherie Travis, President of PACT Humane Society, despite promises made to the media (The Daily Herald and Chicago Tribune) to conduct a full investigation.

Despite the fact that the Illinois Department of Agriculture investigation had not concluded and without proposing any changes in policies of oversight, the DuPage County Board, the governing authority for all county operations, has made it clear it intends to take no action. Kyle Gilgis, the County Board member that Travis has been communicating with for a two year period regarding DuPage County Animal Control, broke rank with the Board to state to the Daily Herald that she believes a full investigation should have been conducted.
