You are cordially invited to a party to benefit the
Midwest Democracy Center featuring the ex-bassist of
Nirvana, Krist Novoselic.
He's got a website at
www.fixour.us and a new
book called Of Grunge and Government: Let's Fix Our
Broken Democracy! In the book, he writes about instant
runoff voting and proportional representation, which
the Midwest Democracy Center
is working on
implementing in Illinois.
So here's the deal. For twenty bucks you get (a) a
copy of the book, (b) an introductory membership with
the Midwest Democracy Center and (c) a chance to talk
with Krist Novoselic. Bring anyone you'd like, the
more people who want to fix our broken democracy, the
quicker it will actually happen.
Some attendees will head over to nearby UIC Circle
Center (750 S. Halstead) to hear Vice Presidential
Candidate Peter Camejo give a talk later in the
evening.
=====
Cowardice asks the question, is it safe? Expedience
asks the question, is it politic? Vanity asks the
question, is it popular? But conscience asks the question,
is it right? And there comes a time when one must take
the position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor
popular, but he must take it because his conscience
tells him that it is right.
-Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
