The NYC police reported that of last night Pier 57 was at full capacity. Complete numbers of arrests can not yet be confirmed as many people have not even been through central booking yet. The police do not report arrests until booking happens. Early reports place the number of detainees at 1500 since the beginning of the protests.

5 UCIMC reporters were rounded up Aug.31 at the War Resisters March that attempted to march from Ground Zero to the convention center. Indy press reports that one entire block of protesters were enclosed and then was arrested with no order to disperse.

One IMC reporter managed to call out on a cell phone from the detention center. She reported that inside the building there are 10 60x75 pens that could hold up to 100 people. She reports that these were all full and another even larger pen was also full to capacity. There is limited bench space and many people have been sleeping on the floor, which is covered in a thin coat of grime.

Many people have been waiting over 24 hours for booking. Most have been denied access to lawyers. Police are reported to be moving to people between Pier 57 and central booking.
