Support Ruben Zamora, Mike Noland, Tom Meadath, & other progressive Democrats by walking with them in the Elgin Hispanic Festival Parade on Saturday, August 14th.  Stepoff is at noon.  The line-up is at 11:00 AM, but they will start closing off the streets near the line-up area at 11:00, so if you want to park close, come before 11:00AM.  The line-up will start at the intersection of Prairie Street and Grove Street, in front of Parairie Rock Brewery.  Walk down the line and look for the Elgin Democrats.  They will have a large donkey!

Ruben Zamora is running for the 14th district of the U.S. Congress. This is very important because his adversary is Old Man Hastert. Zamora has been vrey active in the peace movement and is good on the issues. Please take a moment to read his biography and look at his website. If you live in the 14th conservative stronghold district, please help in whatever way you can, as we need to support Ruben.

BIOGRAPHY
Born on June 21, 1966 in Union City, Indiana, Ruben K. Zamora is the fourth youngest of a Mexican-American, migrant family of 11 children. While he was growing up, Ruben's family sacrificed to make education a priority, and he graduated with honors from Cypress Lake High School in Ft. Myers, Florida.
In 1984, Ruben attended North Central College (Naperville, Illinois) where he participated in track and cross country. He graduated in 1989 with a B.A. in business management. Ruben has over 10 years of food service management, manufacturing, and retail experience. Recently, Ruben completed eight years of substitute teaching in the East Aurora School District and earned his M.A. in education this June from Aurora University.
Ruben enjoys computer games and is a diehard Cubs fan. He is also a fierce competitor who ran marathons and road races. He has coached youth soccer, high school track, 7th grade girls basketball, 5th grade softball, and Ruben also initiated the middle school cross country program for the east side of Aurora. Ruben is a member of the United Methodist Church where he has assisted with Vacation Bible School, taught adult and children Bible studies, and acted as character player. Ruben recently finished his student-teaching requirement at ODonnell Elementary where he was an assistant coach for softball team. Ruben also participates in other community activities such as the Christmas in April program, which helps seniors maintain their homes.
Ruben and his wife, Nadia, have been married 17 years and have two teenage sons, ages 16 and 13. They live in Aurora, Illinois.
