Judge to Decide New Trial for Wrongfully Convicted
Police Torture Victim of Area 2, Detective Yucatis

Justice for Robert Ornelas! Stop Police Torture!

This Thursday, Cook County Judge Nicholas Ford, will decide whether police torture victim Robert Ornelas deserves a new trial. On November 15, 1990 Robert Ornelas was arrested by Joliet Police who sent him to Chicagos notorious Area 2. Known police torturer Detective Yucatis brutally tortured Robert and forced him to confess to a crime that he has always maintained he did not do.

Aside from the forced confession the homicide officers gave contradictory testimony. A witness who recanted their statement later committed suicide. The judge in the original trial refused to go over all the OPS reportssome how they are not in the transcripts. Held in Cook County Jail for five and a half years before trial, and then given a segmented trial consisting of about six months, then continuance after continuance while his judge, Ralph Reyna, every summer played golf. His sweater was never taken for ballistics and there was no gunpowder residue.

All of the above represents a clear violation of Roberts constitutional rights. At the time of his arrest Robert was attending college. After years of languishing in prison Judge Nicholas Ford may right these incredible wrongs done and grant Robert a new trial.

Robert is one of over 100 police torture victims who were chained to walls at Area 2 and 3 throughout the eighties and early nineties, electro shocked, suffocated, burned and/or beaten to force a series of confession that sent them to prison and/or death row and built the careers of both Mayor Daley (States Attorney at the time) and States Attorney Richard Devine (Assistant States Attorney to SA Daley).

Please come and support Roberts Father, Frank, and Mother, Mary, who steadfastly stand by their son in the hopes that some day he will walk free from his wrongful imprisonment.

Enough is Enough! Stop Police Torture! Jail the Detectives! Free their Innocent Victims! Fire Daley and Devine!
