Dear fellow activist, organizer, community leader:
Racial Justice 911 (RJ911) Midwest Network is composed of people of color organizations, organizers, activists and community leaders from around the Midwest working for peace and justice and against war at home and abroad.
Still We Rise: Midwest Conference for Racial Justice, on July 10th-11th, is our first regional conference in the Midwest, and we invite all people of color in the Midwest working for peace and justice to participate.
We are part of the
RJ911 National Network, which has already organized a successful Still We Rise: Peoples Assembly & March in New York on May 22nd, as the New York regional gathering. We will come together in September as part of a Still We Rise National
Gathering during the demonstrations against the Republican National Convention in New York City.
Still We Rise: Midwest Conference for Racial Justice will provide a space for people of color activists, organizers and community leaders to build a movement in the Midwest through:

Learn about your legal rights, and gain materials to help educate others in your community about them:

Dealing with Immigration Authorities
Connecting Global Perspectives (July 10th)
Panelists from diverse perspectives representing common struggles, share with us their views on the issues of genocide, apartheid & segregation, globalization, and confronting
empire from within Bushs' Axis of Evil.
Cross Community Dialogue - Local Issues (July 10th)
Groups working on local issues will present their campaigns, and lead a moderated & open-ended discussion to share strategies and build connections across existing divides.
Racial Profiling
Police Brutality & Harassment
Incarceration & Criminalization
Environmental Issues in Urban Settings
Confronting No Child Left Behind
Low Wage Workers - Day Laborers and Migrant Workers
Spoken Word, Music, and Art (July 10th) will be performed and presented through the day, and during the cultural event in the evening also to be held at Malcolm X College. More information will be made available on our website and email list in the coming weeks.
On Sunday, July 11th, we will host a Networking Brunch,with speakers and performers, followed by an Action in the downtown Chicago area during the afternoon. Moreinformation will be made available about this action on our website and email list in the coming weeks.
Logistics:
Lunch and dinner will be provided on July 10th and brunch will be provided on July 11th.
All activities on July 10th will be wheelchairaccessible, and childcare will be provided if requested at registration.
Accessibility and childcare information about July 11th will be made available in coming weeks.
Housing for Friday, July 9th and Saturday, July 10th will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis to those who request it at registration.
Please note that the conference is intended for People of Color-White-allies may visit our website or call us for activities they may participate in during July 10th as well as ways in which they may volunteer and contribute.
