The Chicago chapter of the International Solidarity Movement will conduct a potluck picnic meeting on Saturday, June 26. The event will be held at Smith Park (2526 W. Grand Ave.) from 5-8PM. All interested in working with ISM-Chicago are invited. Bring food and drinks (no booze) to share.
The Chicago chapter of the International Solidarity Movement will hold a "potluck picnic" on Saturday, June 26 for current and prospective members of our local group. We'll use this informal gathering to greet our summer volunteer, Hajira, who will be assisting us on several projects. While this is intended to be an informal event, there are some items that will be discussed and we will have a guest speaker on Christian Zionism:
*Freedom Summer campaign in Palestine
*July 23: "Jerusalem Day" National Day of Action plans
*Pro-Palestinian street theater actions in Chicago
*Summer actions and meeting schedule
*Joel Finkel on Christian Zionism
Joel Finkel has been active in Palestinian solidarity for many years. Since January of 2001, he has been a member of Not In My Name, serving two terms on its Steering Committee. He has been interviewed on the radio and spoken widely on the issues facing the Palestinians and Israelis. He recently returned from Jerusalem where he attended the Sabeel conference, the focus of which was Challenging Christian Zionism. Mr. Finkel has many contacts within the Israeli peace movement, each of which helps to inform his analysis.
