From CAN TV:

Hundreds of local residents from throughout the City came out today for the City of Chicago Committee on Finance hearing on future funding for CAN TV. The ordinance to fund CAN TV was passed unanimously by the committee and will go to the full Council during the budget process in the fall.

CAN TV Executive Director, Barbara Popovic, says, "Alderman Stone and a vocal majority of the Aldermen stood up today for the people of the City of Chicago. This is an important step toward resolving the problems CAN TV has faced with an outdated, ineffective funding structure."

While this was an important gain, we must work toward getting the ordinance passed by the full City Council in September.
