Workshops:
Labor union organizing and the ecology movement
(ecological harmony and class struggle)
Is a wholesome relationship with nature possible in a technocratic capitalist culture, where everyone and everything is reduced to a mere object, a commodity to be consumed? Why does this global ruling class indoctrinate us to relate to the natural world primarily as a stockpile of essential objects to be utilized for industrial capitalism? If we don't fight for the integrity of the organic world, will we be able to effectively resist the artificial reality that the employer class tries to make us accept? How would workers' control of agricultural and industrial development promote ecological harmony? If we knew from direct experience that all species are related to each other, and all life on our planet is interdependent, how will this influence our struggle for control of production and distribution? If we experience the universe with a sense of awe and wonder, will we still feel that we must try to control everything? How can a locally-based, decentralized socialist workers revolution help to sustain the bioregions where we live?
Cultural Diversity
How can we build a diverse industrial union movement / revolutionary workers culture? How do we reach out to people from other cultures and subcultures, even if they consider themselves to be centrist (moderate) or conservative? How can we prevent the tedency to ghettoize ourselves into stereotypes? How do we maintain our cultural integrity as we build a mass movement?
Class struggle and sexual liberation
How is working for gender identify / sexual preference to ultimately become irrelevant related to the global struggle for liquidation of class divisions? How do people who are working for class liberation coordinate their efforts more effectively with sexually oppressed people who are also fighting for their autonomy and self-determination?
Class struggle and national liberation
How are struggles against ethnic or racial subjugation related to organized labor struggles against the ruling class? How do labor union activists help nationally oprressed workers get organized? How do workers of all nationalities support our undocumented immigrant sisters and brothers?
National, sexual and class liberation
How are struggles for class, sexual, and national liberation related? HOw do we harmonize our work for total freedom from all forms of domination? How do people who are fighting for patriarchal capitalists as labor movement organizers unite with people who are oppressed for their gender identity, sexual preference, ethnic / racial origins, etc?
