Vihang H. Patel, 22 yo, recent University of Chicago graduate, disappeared on the morning of Thursday, June 3, 2004.

Vihang H. Patel, recent Computer Engineering Graduate of University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, was last seen by his family the morning of Thursday, June 3.

Vihang left his home in Des Plaines (Prospect and Manheim) at 8:00AM, and was on his way to the Indian Consulate - located near the NBC Tower in downtown Chicago - in order to receive a visa necessary to gain entry into India where he is planning to study Philosophy.

His intent was to board the Blue Line train at the Rosemont stop and return to his home at 7:30PM. He is very close to his family, very reliable, and had promised to call as soon as leaving the consulate.

Vihang H. Patel is 22 yo, 5’10 in height and weighs 130 lbs. He has been continuously living in the United States since the age of 3, and became a US citizen last year.

In December 2003, Vihang was attacked at 5:00AM while jogging on the campus premises. The attacker threatened to stab him from behind, demanding money which Vihang did not have. He was then forcefully tied up, had his wrists slit, and was found in a ditch three hours later. Fortunately, the cold weather prevented him from bleeding to death, though he suffered from hypothermia.

His family and friends need your help in locating Vihang, and it is of our deepest concern that he and his family do not have to re-experience a similar ordeal. ANY information about his whereabouts is extremely important and we hope you can understand the aguish his relatives and those close to him are going through. They are in desperate need of our help.
