On June 30 the US says it will transfer sovereignty of Iraq to the Iraqi government. In reality, a US puppet government will most likely be installed, and thousands of US troops will remain on the ground.

In Chicago, the 30th is also one of the days that the Taste of Chicago will be taking place.

A protest is planned for this day with the theme, “A Taste of Democracy?”

The protest will be at 5 PM, but people are encouraged to plan their own actions throughout the day. Several groups are already planning to do counter-recruitment at the Taste and I’m sure other plans are in the works as well.

The following has already been decided:
* The theme, A Taste of Democracy?
* A rally will take place at 5 PM at Michigan and Congress, followed by a march, route TBA
* An ending convergence will take place at 7:30 PM, location TBA
* People will be fliering the Taste all day with anti-war lit. and with info. about the 5 PM action.

The rest is up in the air, so please come to the meeting on Wednesday so we can get organized and put up a strong, unified show of resistance.

So far, people from Peace Pledge Chicago, CCAWR and several other groups have been organizing this action.
