It is 00:30 in Jerusalem, and I'm back from a long day, that unexpectedly has seen this day's most crucial land marks, at least from the Israeli side. Please excuse me if this report is somehwat confused, but I insisted on sending it asap to all of you in America, and many of you whom I know are still awake here.

My day began at 07:00 at Israeli Channel 2 TV studios in Jerusalem, where I was interviewed for 'Caffe Tel-Ad', the early morning magazine. I was asked to speak about the invasion of Rafah, however two Israeli officials who spoke before me refused to have a live confrontation with me, which left me less than 4 minutes to respond to their 15-minutes interview. I didn't know the war crimes I spoke about were about to take an even more tragic turn later on during the day.

Just before I went on air I heard Ilan Ostfeld, IDF's radio military correspondent, talking to one of the Israeli representatives, Gideon Meir, advising him to emphasis Israel's 'humanitarian support' to the Palestinians. He added that he, as a reported, is prevented from leading such an argument, but he could cite it largely if it came from an official resource.

At 11:00 I was already at Sufa junction, at one of the entrances to the Gaza strip from Israel. Demonstrators have gathered there for the second day, in order to protest what is known in Israel as 'Operation Rainbow' - the new invasion into Rafah city. This vigil, like many other demonstrations that took place in the last several months, especially against the separation wall, brought together many activists from different movements and organizations: the Israeli Committee against House Demolitions (ICAHD), the Coalition of Women for Peace, Ta'ayush -Arab-Jewish Partnership, Gush Shalom and others, and individuals - some of them came from as far as Nazareth. All of us, it seemed, had figured out even before the last mass murder, that in Rafah Israel has crossed another threshold. In total, over 50 people were standing there, holding signs saying: Not in my name, Down with the occupation, Sharon-Mofaz-Ya'alon to trial, collective punishment is a war crime, and others. We were standing there for hours in front of the military checkpoint that was closed to us, of course - and open only for residents of Kibbutz Sufa, Kibbutz Kholit, and the many military vehicles that we've seen getting into the Gaza strip: tanks and other armored vehicles and carriers, jeeps, military police, and, of course - Caterpillar bulldozers. The army has declared a closed military zone that included everywhere from the road towards west, so that we weren't even allowed to stand on the western side of the road.

At noon I started spotting helicopters above us, fling towards Rafah city. We were too far away to hear or see anything. A few hours later we heard the terrible news on the radio.

We decided to go back to Tel-Aviv to an urgent protest in front of the defense ministry. Again, we exceeded our 'regular' numbers, and about 500 people arrived - with less than 4 hours notice. After half an hour we got off the pavement and starting walking on the street, blocking both directions. We were full of energy and rage.
